Free software can be used and distributed free of charge in contrast with commercial software.

The Adobe Suit is very expensive to buy for personal use, however it is widely used in major design firms and organisations. So it is generally good practice to have the knowledge of how to use it.

However free software gives the user similar functions as well as the freedom to view and edit the source code. More benefits of such software include wide-spread community support.
